Scientists - they refuse to study and understand the psychic realm

Sensible people and scientists do not generally want to hear about psychic powers and faculties, because they immediately associate them with the charlatans and cranks they have encountered. They are right not to accept just anything, but they are not right to be so put off by such manifestations that they refuse to study and try to understand the field of psychic life any further. For in doing so, they set limits to their reflection and investigations, and on the grounds of being rational and objective, they look no further than the surface of things. There are certainly some serious scientists who are interested in what are called ‘parapsychological’ phenomena, but most of them do not admit it for fear of being discredited by their colleagues. There are also priests and pastors who believe in reincarnation but who say nothing because reincarnation is not accepted by the Church and they do not want to attract trouble. Well, I reproach these scientists and this clergy for not having a sense of responsibility, because they are leaving people who are searching and in danger of losing their way to continue groping in the dark.*
