Gratitude - opens the doors of true knowledge

With everything that happens to you, the sorrows as well as the joys, there is something for you to discover that will further your development and your understanding of life. And gratitude is the key that opens the doors of true knowledge. This is why, in the morning, when you wake up, before you think of anything else, say, ‘O God, thank you for granting me life for another day, so that I may serve you and do your will, for your glory and for the coming of your kingdom on earth.’ Already, with these few words, you are placing yourself under heaven’s protection. You are setting your whole day’s activities on the right track and finding the right attitude for dealing with whatever might arise. For it is not enough if you say ‘Thank you, Lord’ only when you hear good news or receive something that pleases you. You must learn to give thanks everywhere and at all times.
