God - only silence can express His essence
When asked what God is, a sage answers with silence, for only silence can express the essence of the Divine. Yes, saying what God is does not suffice, nor does saying what He is not. To say that God is love, wisdom, power and justice is true, but these words fall short of the divine reality, they capture nothing of His infinity, His eternity or His perfection. We do not know God by speaking or hearing others speak about Him. We know Him by trying to delve deeply into ourselves to make contact with the region that is silence.
