Understanding - work in order for it to descend into your everyday life

It is not enough to understand things intellectually and then brilliantly express what you have understood. You must work in order for this understanding to descend into the manifestations of your everyday life. It is your actions, your gestures and your attitude in life that must bear witness to what you have understood, not merely your words. For the time being, it is still the scholars, the learned and the erudite who are considered most important. But this will change: in the future, people will esteem those who have worked to develop and manifest qualities of kindness, tolerance, purity and integrity. We often show contempt for those who possess these qualities, for we fail to realize that they are the result of a profound understanding of life. From now on, try to appreciate these people, and above all, try to imitate them.*
