Trials - spiritual people often lack true knowledge

If you read the lives of masters and initiates, you will see that they have all had to undergo terrible ordeals. Some understood the reasons behind their suffering and did not let themselves become discouraged or rebel against it. They knew that through their suffering, they would become divine. But others, who were less enlightened, were overwhelmed and sometimes even rebelled against it. They could not understand why heaven was so cruel: they had sacrificed everything and they were not rewarded! What spiritual people often lack is true knowledge. They think that because they have devoted their life to God, streams of milk and honey will flow for them, they will walk on rose petals, and crowns will be placed on their heads. It is true that the Bible promises these things, and it is also true that one day all this will come about, but only when they have come through all their trials! In the meantime, those who possess the true light must learn to use whatever befalls them for their own growth.
