Soul and spirit - the soul eats fire, the spirit drinks light

The soul is hungry and the spirit is thirsty. The soul eats fire and the spirit drinks light. The spirit is a masculine principle, the soul a feminine principle, and they each nourish themselves with the complementary element. The soul – which aspires to a positive, active and dynamic principle – eats fire, whereas the spirit – which is masculine – needs to be nourished by the feminine principle, and so drinks light. And just as the masculine principle begets the feminine principle, fire begets light. Light is a manifestation, an emanation of fire. When you light a fire it produces light. And the purer the materials that feed this fire, the more subtle and bright is the light.*
