Number 2 - rules our physical body as well as our psyche

Our physical body is built symmetrically either side of the central axis of the spine, and in this sense it can be said to be ruled by the number 2. We have two eyes and two ears, and although the brain is one, as is the nose, they are really two, with two hemispheres and two nostrils. Then there are the two lungs, the two kidneys and, further down, two testicles in men and two ovaries in women. Lastly, we have two arms and two legs. Even if this symmetry is not total, since the left and right sides of our body are never exactly symmetrical, it does exist physically. But psychically, it is quite another matter. Study of the human brain has shown that the functions of the two hemispheres are not identical: the left hemisphere is the seat of the faculties of analysis (logic, reasoning), which can be described as masculine, and the right hemisphere is the seat of the faculties of synthesis (intuition, sensitivity), which can be described as feminine. So the activities of these hemispheres are complementary. And we can say that our physical body is built on symmetry, while our psyche is based on the polarities of masculine and feminine, positive and negative.
