Consciousness - attained by beings who become collective, universal

Only when a sensitivity to the notions of collectivity and universality has awakened in a person do they truly attain consciousness. This faculty enables them to see into the hearts and souls of other human beings, so that when they cause others to suffer, they feel this suffering in themselves. They understand that whatever they do to others they are doing to themselves. Of course, each human being seems to be alone and apart from all the others, but in reality, there is a spiritual part of ourselves that belongs to the collectivity, that lives in all other creatures and in the cosmos as a whole. When your spiritual dimension is awakened, your being extends throughout the universe and becomes collective.* This means that if you strike someone, it is you yourself who receives the blow through them.
