Child - help the wilful child to channel their energies

A child who is always good and obedient will be considered ‘sweet and adorable’ by adults. Of course, it is easier to cope with a child who sits still when told not to move, who keeps silent when told to be quiet, and so on, but what will become of this sweet, docile child later in life? Not a great deal: this child will remain unremarkable. Whereas a wilful and unruly child causes trouble for those around him. His parents, neighbours and educators endlessly complain, ‘Oh, he has gone too far, look what he has done now!’ Yes, but the child whom everyone finds tiresome and a nuisance is far more likely to become somebody. At the moment, this child is said to overstep the limits, but once he has learned to channel his energies, he will stand out because of his character and talent. And the parents and educators, whose task it is to ensure that he flourishes, must help the child to do so.*
