Subjectivity - must be educated

Human beings have an instinctive tendency to see the world according to their desires or their fears: their entire psychic life is one of subjectivity, of imagination. Like all instincts, this one must be educated. Since people and things become what we believe them to be, there is an entire work to be done here. First we must be careful not to become our own victim by transforming into evil what is simply neutral or even good. But we must also strive to transform what is negative and harmful into something useful. Since thought has power, we must use these powers to master all the negative states we naturally give way to, thereby poisoning our daily lives.
