Spiritual Master - keep him present within you

Many disciples complain, ‘We don’t understand – everything is easy when we are in the presence of a Master, but when we are far away, life becomes difficult again.’ Well, why is that? The reason is simple: if their troubles begin when they are far from their master, it is a sign that they should never have abandoned him. Of course, they have to leave him physically – at some point everyone has to go home. But it is in their minds that disciples must never leave their master. Otherwise the first person who comes along suddenly takes his place, and once dismissed, the master can do nothing more for them. It is not surprising if things suddenly become very difficult; it is simply because the master is no longer with them. Without realizing it, the disciple has found someone or something else to take his place.
