Instruction - it mainly reinforces the lower nature

Ever since human beings realized that the intellect is a faculty which enables them to understand matter, and therefore to act upon it, they have cultivated this power,* and today, there are many very knowledgeable, intellectually-developed people in the world. That is fine; but the more their training focuses on the intellect, the more means they have to dominate, subjugate and impose their will on others. You have only to see how they behave. And it is largely the fault of the instruction they receive, for it gives them the means to reinforce their lower nature. All the things that students are taught in universities can be used in the service of their lower nature. They are never given any knowledge that would help them to take their lower nature in hand and dominate it. They are given weapons but no ideal of self-improvement, and so, of course, they use these weapons to satisfy their basest appetites.
