Generosity - it requires knowledge of the art of saving

People are stingy but not economical. It is not necessarily selfish to be economical, just as it is not necessarily generous to be extravagant. You must learn to make the distinction. Those who squander their energies and throw money out of the window are said to be generous. No, they are rash, vain, stupid, or whatever you like, but not generous. If you want to practise generosity, you must learn the art of saving, for what will you have to share with others if you squander all your wealth? To be economical is to spend where and when you need to, and as much as you need to but no more.
