Electricity is the type of heating that corresponds symbolically to initiates, to those who know how to get all their inner instruments to function by plugging directly into the current from heaven. They turn on the switch and immediately feel the life-giving warmth. Others – the majority of human beings – warm themselves by burning wood, coal or oil, that is to say, their feelings and emotions, and every day they have to clean out the ashes and cinders and add more fuel to the fire. Yes, most people have to tend their fires continually and with meagre results. Even when their unbridled passions work up a great blaze, they are still cold. Yet, from the very beginning, each human being possesses a well-equipped furnace and all the fuel they need. It is just that most people still lack the match, the spark of the spirit that will make the flame spring forth: contact with the divine world.*
