Creation - the key idea of this teaching

Our teaching can be summed up in a single word - creation. Yes, creating, but creating what? Paintings, statues? Working on canvases, wood or marble? No, working on ourselves. For this is the true 'prime matter' - ourselves, our own matter. A sculptor may have created a few statues, that's fine, but when you look at the person, at their attitude, their face, you see that they've never tried to sculpt themselves: they are still only raw matter. No end of people will show you their little paintings, their little songs, their poems that merely reflect their inner confusion. Enough of those artists! Where are the true artists, who are ready to begin the true inner work of fashioning themselves? This is unknown work, original work, but it is the work of the future.
