Chastity - seek love on the spiritual plane

It is pointless to decide to limit the physical manifestations of love unless it is to savour its spiritual manifestations more fully. Besides, someone who renounces physical love without seeking love on the spiritual plane* is running a great risk, for restraint can very quickly become repression. This means that continence and chastity must not be thought of as a deprivation. You must not deprive yourself; you must simply move to a different level, that is to say, you must do what you have always done but on a higher plane. Instead of drinking from a swamp full of microbes, drink from a crystal-clear spring. If you stop drinking altogether you will die. If you have been told that you must not drink, it is because you must not drink water from a sewer. You must drink – but you must drink heavenly water.
