Affinity, psychological and intellectual - necessary condition for lasting love

People so often launch into a love affair without really asking themselves where it will lead! They don’t consider that a love affair is only meaningful if they can build something solid. You hope that the link you have with a particular man or woman will last… That’s fine, but first ask yourself whether the two of you are in harmony on all three levels – physical, emotional and mental – or whether you are just succumbing to passing charms, to the attraction of pleasure. If you do not have similar tastes and ideas, don’t tell yourself that that is not important, that things will sort themselves out in time, because they won’t. On the contrary; after a while, once the novelty of certain pleasures has worn off, you start to see that psychological and intellectual affinity are extremely important. If these affinities do not exist, discord and misunderstandings set in, and where you thought you would find joy and fulfilment you find only disillusionment, bitterness and torment.
